Monthly Archives: July 2011

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month already!  That’s how behind I am on life!  Yeowzers. Tyler’s sister Natalie came out to visit us for the 4th of July holiday and spent the week with us and I am now convinced she has the best job on the planet.  You teachers work so hard […]

Thanks Summer! I don’t recognize the apartment at all, can’t even tell where the staircase is. The wood on the shop used to be natural, no pillars and fence either. Looks good though, but not the same.ReplyCancel

Wow Summer, that’s so cool! I’d love to see some of Andre’s work the next time we go out to California. That building is absolutely beautiful. Sure miss you guys! You headed this way again any time soon?ReplyCancel

Dear Summer & Liardet family members: I happen to be doing some online search for info on your grandfather, Mr. Liardet. I was in the process of preparing photographs for historical purposes to share with the present owners of 9019 Lloyd Place in West Hollywood, the house I bought from your grandparents back in 1984, just when they moved to Poway. The design on the front of the house was about the same as that of the Foreign Press Assoc building a few blocks away on Robertson Blvd shown above.

His artisan work was phenomenal and the kitchen in the house was very special. I attached a pdf of 2 photos but not sure if you can view them here. If you write me, I’ll be happy to send photos I took of the house back in 1984. ( Mike McLean PO Box 161, Palm Springs, CA 92263) The house has been sold a few times since I sold in 1988 and some of his work has been unfortunately destroyed. Not sure you were aware but in the 1960’s Judy Garland use to walk all the time on Lloyd Place as a close friend of hers lived on the street. Bette Davis also visited the neighborhood as she would sign autographs at a record store on Santa Monica Blvd. I was told Raquel Welch had an apt across the street and a very famous gossip columnist lived on the street as well. When I lived there, Judy Andrews moved her In-laws to a house across the street and David Lee Roth lived 2 houses down. It was quite an area and still is…. Not sure you knew but one of Andre’s clients he designed a kitchen for was Comedian Bill Cosby. It was great reading about Tyler visiting some of his grandfather’s historical work. All the best to all.

One of Ty’s best friends from high school just tied the knot last month!  San Diego sunshine. Golf course. Live music…It was the perfect day. I love weddings…I always tear up during the ceremony.  Always.  Even if I don’t know the couple very well the emotions still run high.  I’m such a sap for real […]
